Menu Plan Monday...sort of!

The Organic Gal!

Hello all! Welcome to my version of the grocery cart challenge!I am going to try to make all of my recipes using organic or all natural ingredients. Any recipe I give I will substitute with the best ingredients I can. If it calls for mayo, I will make my own mayo (that I should have kept easily on hand) if it calls for vegetable oil I will use canola or olive oil, butter for margarine ,if it calls for sugar I will use xylitol or honey. If it calls for noodles I will use whole wheat , etc.

Because organic and all natural can be a tad bit more costly (not always but in some cases-especially if I want to be lazy!) my grocery budget I pray will be around $70.00 but I will not cry if it reaches $100.00 from time to time. Meaning my budget is $100 but I am aiming for $70.00.

Another thing I can not shop on Mondays. However this week I am wanting to get started on this so I will just this once...well it also helps that I also went on Saturday. I will be posting My shopping day on Monday from the previous Thursday and Friday's shopping adventures and then put it on The Grocery Cart Challenge's Blog...So you will be getting my shopping day 3-4 day's after I have done it...oh well can't be perfect aye? This week will only cover Monday-Thursday. Friday-Thursday will be on Next Monday's meal plan. Does that make sense?

Oh one other thing, most of my recipes are from America's Test Kitchen or from Nourishing Traditions cook books but I will put GOOD substitutes on here. They will be as close to my recipe as I can find...and I am finding some that are the same so your in luck cuz ATK and NT rocks!!!!!

Remember this menu reflects Monday-Thursday

Oatmeal
Cream of Wheat
Organic Pop tarts
Organic Cereal

With my oatmeal I soak 1 cup rolled oats overnight in 1 cup water and 2T yogurt (plain) then when I wake up I add another cup water and cook 5 minutes on med?ish I then add xylitol (sugar substitute, you could also use honey, sorghum, or black strap molasses) or sorghum, cinnamon (a lot), a pinch of nutmeg and cloves. YUM! The same goes for the cream of wheat-I soak whole wheat cream of wheat the same way.

Nice job! I admire you for trying to be more organic. Will you grow your own veggies in the summer?
